ABOUT ALUMNI

Ranni St. Thomas College Alumni Association (STAAR) is the network of former students of our college and teachers. It is a confluence of all those who studied here and are now at all around the world. STAAR is a non-profit making registered Society, under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955, Kerala, bearing the Registration No: PTM/TC/21/2023. The Mission of STAAR is to provide a vibrant global network and forum that connects and engages the alumni with their Alma Mater. In order to foster a warm relationship, the College maintains regular contact with the alumni and former faculties through various E-mail groups and Social networking sites such as WhatsApp, Facebook, etc. The Alumni association of the college is active with major chapters in Kuwait, Dubai and Bahrain. The Alumni is very active in promoting, mentoring and guiding the current students of the College. Our former faculties and alumni have been keenly involving in major college functions. The alumni association convenes its Annual Meet on Second Saturday of January every year. The meeting is conducted every year in order to reconnect with the Alumni and celebrate their success and various achievements. Independently, various Departments of the College have taken initiatives to organize Departmental Meets which have facilitated the strengthening and widening of STAAR family.

  • 1. To encourage Alumni to stay associated and to serve as promoters for the Institute
  • 2. To encourage Alumni to contribute their time, talent and financial support to Institute and students
  • 3. To incorporate the educational wealth to the entire down-trodden students to improve their professional and personal life standards
  • 4. To enable the successful Alumni to inspire each and every student to achieve the best in their professional career
  • 5. To make efforts for cultural and educational development
  • 6. To provide job opportunities for the present and past students
  • 7. To organize different social program and to orient the past students about the new trends in education.

FUNCTIONS OF STAAR

  • 1. Ensure registration of all outgoing students in Alumni Association and maintain Alumni database
  • 2. Extend all assistance and cooperation to the institute for growth and development of institute in the field of academics and research
  • 3. Perform collaborative activities leading towards the enhancement of skill and knowledge of the students in the institute
  • 4. Establish Alumni chapters at the identified locations
  • 5. Publicize chapter, its activities and the achievements through E-News letters
  • 6. Organize meeting and sessions at Alumni with current students
  • 7. Maintain year wise Audit

The Alumni Association actively contributes in academic matters, student support and mobilization of resources – both financial and non-financial. The association is involved in qualitative and quantitative development of the college.

Financial Contribution of Alumni Association

The contribution of alumni towards their Alma Mater is undoubtedly very significant

  • 1. The Alumni empower the Socially and Economically Disadvantaged Groups through scholarships. Kuwait Alumni Scholarship, Zoology Alumni Association Fund, Gulmohar Educational Merit Scholarship (GEMSS), etc. are some of the scholarships which are providing to students those are economically backward, but faring reasonably well in academics.

Non-financial contribution by Alumni Association:

Our alumni extended their kind support as a token of gratitude toward the institution. Many of our alumni have been contributing handsomely but silently through non-financial means:-

  • 1. Notable alumni serve as Chief Guests, resource persons and keynote speakers for conferences, seminars and academic enrichment activities.
  • 2. They provide orientation and employability training for placements.
  • 3. Alumni entrepreneurs provide mentoring for the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre.
  • 4. They support in admission campaign of the institution in various parts of the country and other countries.
  • 5. They are instrumental in building the brand image of the college.
