The Department of Malayalam, started in 1964, offers the second language course to students of the undergraduate programme. The faculty members of this department at present are Dr. Veena.S and Fr. Dr. Mathews Vazhakunnam.

Department History

The Department of Malayalam has been offering the second language course to students of the undergraduate programme since its inception in 1964. Eminent literary experts including late Prof. Bhaskaran Nair (1964-1978), late Prof. P. T. Geevarghese (1968-1998), Prof. Dr. Annamma Jacob (1969-2003), Prof.P.P.Mathew (1969-2002), Prof. Tony Mathew (1979-2004) and Prof. T. T. Thomas (1981- 2006) were the former faculty members of this department. The department is now headed by Dr.Veena.S who attained her Ph.D. through FIP Programme in 2013. Fr. Dr. Mathews Vazhakunnam is a renowned social activist, and is also a faculty member of the department.
